Food & Drink
Located at Westerlands, Woodfire Camping serve the most delicious meals made with locally sourced ingredients and cooked on an open woodfire grill.
Think less a restaurant, more like going to theirs for breakfast or supper. Dinner itself is like a big, relaxed family meal. Tables are moved around, kids come and go or play nearby while adults can chat and linger to watch the sun set.
Stella & Griff
Stella & Griff set up Woodfire Camping at Westerlands in 2018. They began cooking for campers on Friday nights, knowing from experience that travelling from work, putting up a tent and then having to produce a meal can test the most patient of souls.
They now cook breakfast and supper when they are open and their food is so good they have built a reputation for it (BBC GoodFood Magazine, The Guardian, The Telegraph Food & Drink etc).
Visit their Instagram page to find out more about them and what to expect when you visit Woodfire.
How it works
Pre-order your food a few days before you want to eat. Then Stella and Griff can order only what they need from their suppliers so there's very little waste. Don’t forget to let them know if you have any allergies or if they need any extra information regarding your order.
They always cook a bit more in case the delicious smells lure latecomers so it's worth ordering even after the deadline in case they can accommodate, but once it's gone, it's gone!
Bring your own plates, glasses and cutlery and soft drinks (not alcohol). You can buy chilled beers, cocktails and wines at the Kitchen.
Timing
We have two or three sittings, between 6.30pm and 8.30pm depending on how busy the campsite is.
The times for these may vary so please pop round to see us and reserve a time slot on the day of your booking. Best times to see us are:
before 11am or
after 4pm
Prices
Woodfire cook one meal each evening, just like at home but with a meat and vegetarian/vegan option. There are two portion sizes: standard or half (kids over 8 with a healthy appetite probably need a standard).
£21 for meat/fish dishes (£11 for half portions)
£17 for veg dishes (£9 for half portions)
£7 for desserts
You don't pre-pay for your order (sometimes people are ill or kids aren't hungry etc). You can pay as you go or keep a tab and settle up with a card payment when you leave.

Embers at Woodfire
Thursday 18 September at 6.30pm - £80/person
Woodfire’s legendary Feast events bring together guest chefs, epic ingredients, fire and big skies. It's another amazing collaboration, this time with the aptly-named Embers; the Michelin-recommended fire-cooking restaurant in Brighton's busy Laines.
For thousands of years, people have gathered to share stories and food around fire. When friends Dave Marrow (Terre à Terre) and Isaac Bartlett-Copeland (Isaac At) set up @embers_restaurant_ - a Michelin-recommended restaurant in the heart of Brighton’s Laines - they wanted it to be built around those two elements: fire and friendship. There couldn’t be a collaboration more suited to a Feast in a field at Woodfire Camping than this!
