All our animals are 100% grass fed, high welfare and free to roam at Westerlands. By choosing to buy directly from us, you are supporting sustainable farming practices and also purchasing locally raised produce of exceptional quality.

We only sell a few farm boxes each month and they do sell out quickly, so we highly recommend that you reserve and pay now. Alternatively, you can add your name to our reserve list and we will be in touch when your box is ready.

  • Dexter Beef

    Dexter beef has exceptional marbling, leading to a rich, buttery flavour. As one of the smallest traditional cattle breeds, Dexters have maintained a relatively pure heritage making them a chef’s favourite. Our beef is 21 days matured in the fridge to enhance the texture and flavour.

  • Lamb

    Our lamb has a wonderfully delicate tenderness and flavour. Born and raised in our free range pastures in the South Downs and 100% grass-fed means the meat is high in unsaturated fats and rich in omega-3. Our lamb is 14 days matured in the fridge to enhance the texture and flavour.

  • Hogget

    Hogget (or shearling) is a lamb aged 12-24 months. It has the delicate tenderness of lamb yet the extra time spent on pasture allows it to develop a flavour that is richer than lamb but not as strong as mutton. Our hogget is 14 days matured in the fridge to enhance the texture and flavour.

  • Honey

    Every jar of Westerlands Honey is infused with the fragrant wildflowers and herbs that grow on our land. By choosing to buy our Honey, you support farming practices that nurture biodiversity. Our farm is not just a home for bees, but a sanctuary for countless species that thrive here.

Simon Taylor

Our meat is prepared by the talented Simon Taylor of Surrey Hills Butchers. Simon is an accredited master butcher and captain of the GB butchery team.

He believes that every step of our food’s journey is important, from how an animal is fed to how it is slaughtered, butchered and cooked. He sources from local farmers such as Westerlands who are aligned with the same vision and who he can visit and see for himself how animals are cared for.

Cheryl manages the marketing and sales of farm produce. When you order a farm box from Westerlands, she will contact you to arrange collection on the day it is delivered from our butcher. If you have any questions you can contact her as follows:

  • We are a regenerative farm which means: we don’t use synthetic fertilisers, only farm yard manure and organic green waste; we don’t use pesticides, fungicides or herbicides on our land; we very rarely use antibiotics and all our animals are slow grown and 100% pasture fed. Although our lamb and beef is not certified organic, we practise organic management principles.

  • All our lamb and hogget box weights are approximate as some animals are larger than others. On average a whole lamb will weigh around 18-20kg and a whole hogget will weigh between 25-30kg.

  • We provide a selection of cuts in each box up to the total weight of the box.

    If you would like us to create a bespoke box of selected cuts or wish to buy a box at a different weight from those listed in our online shop - please contact Cheryl to arrange.

  • All our individual cuts of meat are frozen on arrival and can be collected from Westerlands Office, our Horsebox Café or put in the fridge or freezer of your accommodation awaiting your arrival.

    Meat boxes are delivered fresh from the butcher on collection day and are available for you to collect between 2pm and 5pm (or the next day). They can be frozen at your request and collected at a later date. Cheryl will contact you to arrange a time that suits you.
