Wild About Health

A different kind of wellbeing

Living Well, Naturally

At Westerlands, we believe true health starts outdoors. Long before “wellness” became an industry, it was a way of living: grounded in soil, community, movement, and the quiet wisdom of the natural world. Wild About Health is our invitation to return to that rhythm.

Born from our regenerative land‑care work on the farm and estate, the concept reflects a discovery that has shaped our philosophy: as we heal the land, the land heals us too. Its about providing an evidence-based approach to wellbeing, grounded in the science of nature and human health.

The Wild Collection

  • WildSpa

WildSpa is our outdoor oasis overlooking the rolling South Downs, blending ancient bathing rituals with the elemental power of fire and water.

A wood-fired sauna and spring-fed plunge pool are set within a private garden, complete with loungers, fireside seating, and an open-air shower — a secluded space designed for deep restoration and reconnection.

  • WildSanctuary

With its original 17th-century wooden floor, open fireplace and soft lighting, our Rose Room offers a private, nurturing sanctuary for individual wellbeing treatments and holistic therapies.

South-facing French windows open onto a private garden with a winding grass path leading to our WildSpa — the perfect complement to your Rose Room experience.

  • WildFlow

WildFlow is where breath, body, and energy move together in harmony.

Our mat-based and slow-flow classes are designed to stretch your body, calm the mind, and reconnect you with your natural rhythm.

Held in the light-filled, Waterlands Room, each session is guided by experienced instructors, helping you move with intention, ease, and a deep sense of presence.

  • WildFit

WildFit helps you build strength and mobility — without a treadmill in sight. It’s about purposeful movement, fresh air, and the natural lift in mood and energy that comes from training outdoors.

We run a variety of seasonal classes shaped by our circadian rhythms, in tune with the weather and daylight hours, with knowledgeable instructors who support you at every level.

Why Wild About Health?

Because modern life is noisy.
Because wellness has become performative.
Because we’re all craving something real.

Wild About Health is a return to ancient wisdom:

𖦹 regenerative, not extractive
𖦹 communal, not individualistic
𖦹 cyclical, not rushed
𖦹 integrated, not escapist

At Westerlands, health becomes a rhythm, shaped by soil, by seasons, and by being immersed in nature.

The Wild Collective

  • WildRoots

WildRoots reconnects you with the cycles of growth — your own and the land’s. Join our WildRoots community and become a founding member.

Our first WildRoots initiative is the Good Gut Garden, created in collaboration with Harriet of Foraged Hope and our resident horticulturalists. Here, you’ll grow herbs, vegetables, medicinal plants and flowers while learning regenerative gardening practices rooted in soil health and biodiversity. From autumn, monthly harvest suppers will celebrate seasonal abundance, shared effort and community connection.

Our second WildRoots project will cultivate land beside the Equestrian Centre to grow and supply plants for our established Equine Herb Kitchen & Café. This initiative explores the synergy between nature and optimal horse gut health, linking land stewardship with equine wellbeing.

  • WildGather

WildGather is shaped by the power of connection — to people, to horses, and to the land. Shared experiences strengthen resilience, reduce stress, and nurture a true sense of belonging.

At Westerlands, a variety of welcoming indoor and outdoor spaces encourages people to come together — from forest school sessions and nature workshops to seasonal gatherings that celebrate community and united purpose.

At the heart of WildGather lies our equestrian heritage, guided by the wisdom of the herd. Through saddle club adventures and dedicated time with horses, we honour the unique human–horse bond — supporting emotional regulation, confidence, trust, and calm.

Wellbeing is richer when enjoyed with others. Whether you join us for a day or a year, you become part of something living, evolving, and meaningful.

Shaped by Heritage

Westerlands—originally “Waterlands”—rests on ancient wetlands, sand, and fertile soils first chosen by Saxon settlers. Today, these same natural features continue to guide our approach to sustainable living.

Our natural springs flow through the estate from high up on the South Downs, providing fresh borehole water to the plunge pool, guest cabins, our horses, and even the Horsebox Café. Every sip and every experience is a reminder of nature’s enduring generosity, sustaining us in ways both simple, profound, and timeless.
